In a fit of inspiration I received after watching my friend type with his xbox controller using xPadder, I decided to create an iPad style interface for my LabVIEW industrial HMI. In a normal industrial HMI setup there is a banner at the top of the page with information and a banner at the bottom for navigation. With this setup there is a limited number of buttons that can be used for navigation and so some pretty creative schemes get implemented. All my machines have touch screens for the user interface so it only makes sense to imitate the leader in the computer user experience space.
The program is simply a supervisory program that runs 4 vi's simultaneously and displays the individual front panels in 4 separate sections that are accessed by swipping the mouse/touch pad left or right. I put everything on github so you can download it and try it out. The link to the git hub repository is https://github.com/chrylarson/LabVIEWiPad
